New California Law Makes Voting in Two States a Misdemeanor

41% : Authored by Assemblyman Marc Berman (D-Menlo Park), Assembly Bill 1539 aimed to clean up the state's prior law, which didn't cover those who vote in California and in another state either in person or via a mail-in ballot.
39% : Three additional residents of Santa Clara County were discovered by Mr. Rosen to have voted in both California and another state, but his office was forced to defer their prosecution to the other states because of California's incomplete law, according to the press release.
26% : A new California law, signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom Oct. 10, makes it a misdemeanor for California residents to vote in another state, if they have already voted in an election in California on the same date.
