For example, I am from Singapore, our …Read MoreExtremism is no doubt a highly corrosive concept in human society but our Western concept of what constitutes extremism may not be applicable to all cultures. For example, I am from Singapore, our society is very strict and some may say, autocratic, however we are incredibly successful by every metric. We have higher life expectancy than the United States, better healthcare, safer streets, low crime, and high economic growth. However, the ruling party, the People’s Action Party, is arguably a collection of right-wing extremists in that they do not believe in Western liberal democracy. With that said, I believe in democracy but Singapore does not, at least, not in the way we see it. So no, I do not think we should regulate online extremism. Furthermore, it may infringe upon the freedom of expression. As abhorrent as ideologies like Nazism and Communism are, we cannot regulate individuals who engage in such ideas as it would be de-facto censorship. And my concern is that it would simply cause there to be more public interest. Instead, we should as a society, continue to intellectually destroy extremist fanatics through debate. Read Less

However, I do not know if it would work. Online extremism is across all countries and people which a global coalition could help to provide education and ways to combat it. I think the global coalition should do things like research, initiatives, and more which could help in combating online extremism. However, with all the different countries, cultures, religions and more that makes it difficult to do it for all countries which is why I do not know if it would work. Read Less
