Space is the next great frontier. It is important to protect our national security by ensuring that we are able to apropriately respond to the changing times. An example of this is the recent warnings from the US government about new technology that Russia has that allows them to deploy nuclear weapons with anti-satellite capabilities to space. America must be able to combat these risks. Beyond military potential, space also gives humans the best chance to delay or potentially circumvent extinction. The truth is that Earth will not be able to support live forever. This means that if humans want to still be around, we must become a multi-planetary species. Our solar system also provides us with vital natural resources that we could use on Earth. Imagine if a solar panel could be placed in space to renewably power Earth without having a nighttime. Or if we could use rocks in the asteroid belt for certain minerals and elements to build or utilize sustainably on Earth. Although it may be expensive and seem not important in the moment, space must be explored to create a better, safer, and more sustainable world. Read Less
