I believe they should be funded by both the government and the public.

This will help to tackle some of the corruption and classism in politics, while also still allowing individuals to make their voices heard by donating money to campaigns. It will also help to level the playing field by preventing candidates from only catering to their wealthy donors and special interests. Not every candidate, especially a first-time candidate, is wealthy or a fundraising prowess. Publicly-funded campaigns can allow all candidates to start out with a solid floor. However, I still think it’s important for candidates to eventually show that they have strong fundraising skills. In many races, the candidates that show strong grassroots support win elections.
