If we were to ignore the morality of what erasing these ecosystems has to the marine-life themselves, we would still have to face with the fact of how drastic it would impact human-life in the near future.

    In fact, a great number of countries have banned deep sea mining altogether from how harmful it can become. The flow of our oceans, not just in terms of water but in terms of nutrients, animal-life, minerals, has a greater impact on our food, water, nutrition, materials, and global climate in terms of temperatures, rainfall, wind, and storm-activity. It is very surprising how much impacting a small section of the ocean leads to a domino-effect of negative repercussions for both marine/animal-life and human life. Read Less

    Unique Biodiversity: The deep sea harbors unique species adapted to extreme conditions. Many of these organisms are endemic and could face extinction before being discovered.

    Slow Recovery: Deep-sea ecosystems recover at an exceptionally slow pace, if at all, because of the low biological activity and reproduction rates in these environments. Read Less
