Yes, especially when dealing with prisoners of international origin or prisoners of war. Putting guidelines such as this in place would damper international incidents.

Prisons have become a place to barricade the world from the “undesirables” who have done wrong rather than a place to reform them. Once they leave and re-enter society, that barricade is now useless and those former inmates, who might’ve endured trauma and isolation on a magnified level, are left in a vulnerable and easily corruptible mindset. More reforms should take place to help change an inmate and give them a new opportunity to change their lives rather than do nothing but punish them. So, for the better of both the one’s behind bars and the ones outside, I feel there should be International Agreements to standardize Ethical Treatment of Prisoners. Read Less

Nevertheless, there should be stricter international laws enforced by the UNSC that prohibits torture, forced disappearances, and regulates the rules of war. War crimes are rampant across the world right now from the Burmese Civil War, to the Palestinian Conflict. The UN must step up to the plate and increase the amount of peacekeepers that can serve as an objective armed group that can uphold international law. Read Less

Yes, definitely there should be ethical treatment of prisoners. Nothing good comes out of unethical treatment, prison should be a place of rehabilitation in my opinion.

Yes there should be standards especially in the case where someone is incarcerated in a place they are not from or living in.
