The global standards protect the animals from any terrible cruelty that affects their ability to be food or their produce.    I think farms where animals are used for food are okay but the death should be quick and painless.    Yes, there should be global standards for the treatment of animals. I think regardless of the culture or where it is, animals should deserve the same respect as humans do.
