ABC News was founded on June 15, 1945, by Edward J. Noble, a businessman and philanthropist who had purchased the NBC Blue Network and transformed it into the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). Noble saw an opportunity to create a new major radio network that would eventually expand into television. The idea came about after the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) ordered NBC to divest one of its two radio networks to expand competition in radio broadcasting. Today, ABC News is owned by The Walt Disney Company, which acquired ABC in 1996.Based in New York City, ABC News covers a wide range of topics including national and international news, politics, business, technology, entertainment, and sports. They produce popular programs such as “Good Morning America,“ “World News Tonight,“ “20/20,“ and “Nightline,“ which are broadcast across the United States through their network of affiliated stations. ABC News also maintains a strong presence across multiple platforms, including television, radio, and digital media. One interesting fact: ABC News made history in 1976 when Barbara Walters became the first woman to anchor an evening news program for a major broadcast network, co-anchoring “ABC Evening News“ with Harry Reasoner.
ABC News is ranked 230 among other media sources and has an average of 48,880,000 monthly visits according to Similar Web.
